Cumberland Island Information

Cumberland Island is Georgia's largest and southermost barrier island.

The island is 17.5 miles long and totals 36,415 acres of which 16,850 are marsh, mud flats, and tidal creeks. It is well known for its sea turtles, abundant shore birds, dune fields, maritime forests, salt marshes, and historic structures.

The island can only be accessed by boat. Cumberland Island Kings Bay Lodges is only 4 miles from the departure point for the ferry. Call the Park Services at (912) 882-4335 or (888) 817-3421 to make reservations.

    Call the Park Services at (912) 882-4335 or (888) 817-3421 to make reservations and get schedule confirmations and prices. Ferry cost are in addition to park entrance fee. Advance reservations are recommended. Plan on a 45 minute ferry ride in to island visit schedule.
