St. Marys' new waterfront park is a fitting memorial to the man, Howard Gilman, whose foundation donated a million dollars to fund the park. Mr. Gilman's family brought prosperity to Camden County and provided jobs for several generations of Camden County residents at the Gilman Paper Mill. Howard Gilman was a lover of nature and patron of the arts, and this beautifully designed park reflects those two interests. The Howard Gilman Foundation and the citizens of St. Marys who had the vision of a place where families could enjoy strolling on the banks of the St. Marys River in the heart of the downtown area are to be congratulated on their achievement.
